Governor Yahaya Bello’s convoy, Sunday, rescued and conveyed accident victims it ran into on Abuja-Lokoja expressway around Gegu-Beki in Kogi Local Government Area of the State to hospital for treatment.
The team of physicians on the convoy, according to eyewitness, gave first aid treatment to the three victims before they were rushed to the State’s Specialist Hospital in Lokoja for treatment in the Governor’s ambulance.
Bello, who was returning from Abuja urged his medical team to manage the victims’ situations and keep them alive before reaching the hospital for proper treatment. The Governor, as gathered, accompanied the victims to the hospital and commiserated with them before departing to the Lugard House.
The victims who were traveling to Abuja before the incidents sustained various degrees of injuries which were being treated at the emergency ward of the hospital. Bello who urged medical personnel in the hospital to take proper care of the victims assured that their bills would be taken care of by the Kogi State Government.
The three victims who could not speak as at press time are reported to be responding to treatment.
Officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Police who were at the scene to investigate the causes confirmed on condition of anonymity that over-acceleration was the cause of the accident.
